The Jazz Society of Oregon ™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization working to support jazz music, America’s original art form, through our membership activities.

  • Support and promote local jazz musicians, clubs and events such as the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival ™
  • Publish the monthly digital jazz magazine, JazzScene ™
  • Support students of jazz through scholarship grants
  • Support music programs in our public schools through the High School Jazz Band Competition
  • Recognize exceptional jazz performers/educators via the Jazz Hall of Fame and the Amateur Jazz Vocalist Competition
  • Create opportunities for members to share live jazz performances together

Membership Benefits

coronet1Besides supporting the work of the Jazz Society, your membership entitles you to a free subscription to JazzScene magazine. Each monthly issue of the JazzScene digital magazine contains CD reviews, articles about local jazz events, and interviews with the musicians making the scene in Pacific Northwest. JazzScene contains the best jazz calendar in the Northwest, listing venues, dates, times, prices, and contact information for a great number of events each month. Jazzscene will quickly become your Jazz planning guide. Join Us! Choose the membership category that best fits you.

Become a New Member

To join the Jazz Society for the first time, click on a button below next to your desired membership category. This will take you to a page where you can pay by credit card, or if you have a PayPal account you can use that. If you are already a member DO NOT renew here. Instead, please make sure you are logged in, then go to the Membership Renewal option under the JOIN US menu.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will receive a receipt email from PayPal and a registration email from the Jazz Society. THESE TWO EMAILS WILL GO TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT. If you do not see both of these emails, please look in your spam folder.

To register your JSO ™ account and get your password, click on the registration link in the email message you get from JSO. The link will take you to a registration form where you can choose your username and password. You can also change the email address associated with your JSO account if you want it to be different than your PayPal email address. See detailed instructions on how to use PayPal below.

We really appreciate your paying with a credit card or PayPal because it reduces our administrative overhead. However, you can also send a check payable to The Jazz Society of Oregon, P.O. Box 19882, Portland, Oregon 97280. Please write your email address on the check so we can send you JazzScene magazine, and also please write the word “membership” on the check to indicate the payment is for membership dues.

If you already have a PayPal account, you can use it to pay for your membership by logging in to PayPal.

If you do NOT have a PayPal account, you can click on the Pay with Debit or Credit Card button. You can use any valid credit card (not just PayPal). Fill in your contact information. Note that your address, City, State and Zip must correspond with each other or you will get an error.

You may get a screen that looks like this, or a variation of this. Fill in your contact information, then click on the yellow button that says Continue.
